Executive Director, Development Office and the Foundation

BA (Hons), MA, AKC, King’s College London

Janet leads the Development Office team. She is a highly experienced development professional who has worked at Victoria since 2014 with a special focus on supporting the Ferrier Research Institute and the Adam Art Gallery.

Janet’s career in strategic fundraising spans 20 years. In London, she was Director of Development at Sadler’s Wells Theatre and Executive Director of the Somerset House Arts Fund at the Courtauld Institute of Art. Since moving to New Zealand in 2010, she has worked with leading organisations in the creative sector, including the Royal New Zealand Ballet and Auckland Theatre Company. 

She is a published author and holds an MA in English and American Literature from King's College London.

Executive Assistant to the Executive Director of the Development Office and the Foundation

BA, Victoria University of Wellington

Deborah is the Executive Assistant to the Executive Director, Development Office and the Foundation, and is also responsible for a wide range of administrative functions and Foundation events.

She is a Victoria University graduate with a BA majoring in Criminology and Sociology.

Campaign Manager

Anita is responsible for developing and managing partnerships with Charitable Trusts and Foundations and the Annual Alumni Appeal.

Anita has a background in corporate marketing and sponsorship, as well as major gift fundraising and joined the Development Office in 2012 after working on the University of Auckland's $200 million fundraising campaign.

Anita holds a BCA in Marketing and Management and a BA in Political Science from Victoria University.

Senior Development Manager—Science, Architecture & Design, Engineering

BA, Sussex University

Emma oversees all aspects of fundraising for the Faculties of Science, Architecture and Design, and Engineering.

Originally from the UK, Emma has a background in establishing and managing, Major Giving programmes with a focus on individuals and nurturing successful donor relationships. Emma has worked in various charitable organisations across the not for profit sector in London, these include Tate, The National Autistic Society and most recently for a youth-led International Development organisation called Restless Development. Emma graduated from the University of Sussex, UK, with a BA in Art History.

Senior Development Manager

Development and Foundation Services Manager

Michele is the Development Office and Foundation’s Services Manager. Her wide-ranging responsibilities include monitoring projects privately funded through the Foundation; liaison with donors and sponsors of scholarships and prizes; servicing the Foundation’s charitable boards in New Zealand and overseas; and marketing and communication of the Foundation’s work.

Michele has had a number of years’ experience working at University of Canterbury in a similar role. She joined the Foundation in February 2013.

Donor Relations Manager

Development Manager—Science, Architecture & Design, Engineering

BA Hons, Victoria University of Wellington

Grace is involved in all aspects of fundraising for the Faculties of Science, Architecture and Design, and Engineering. This includes stewardship of current donors and partners as well as the development of new relationships and projects to ensure cutting edge research continues to make enormous strides and discoveries.

Grace is a graduate of Victoria University of Wellington, having completed a BA Hons in Art History and an undergraduate in Political Science in 2014. She previously worked within the research team in Victoria's Development Office.

Development Manager, Bequests and Senior Stewardship

Ros works across all areas of fundraising with special responsibility for those wishing to leave a gift to Victoria University in their will. Leaving a lasting gift to Victoria ensures a healthy endowment fund that will make a real difference to future generations of students and staff.

Before joining the team Ros’s most recent fundraising experience was with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra Foundation and Wellington Zoo Trust. Previously, while working for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ros developed valuable experience in publishing and communications.

Ros indulges her lifelong love of music with choral singing. She sings with the Orpheus Choir of Wellington and is a current member of their Board.

Development Manager—Faculty of Law

BA, Victoria University of Wellington

Anna oversees fundraising for Victoria's renowned School of Law. This includes stewardship of current donors and partners, and development of new relationships that will enbable the Law Faculty to grow its world-class teaching and research capabilities.

Anna has previously worked in a variety of fundraising, marketing and partnership management roles, including at Dowse Art Museum, New Zealand Post Book Awards, and most recently Scots College, launching a major sponsorship campaign. Anna holds a Bachelor of Design, Visual Communications from Victoria University

Proposal Writer

BA, University of Canterbury, BSpThy (Hons), University of Queensland

Jenny is the Foundation's Proposal Writer, who turns research project ideas into attractive proposals for donors to support.

After working as a speech language therapist in Queensland and at Wellington Hospital, the arrival of a new computer system saw her move into a business analyst role. She has most recently been a technical writer for the New Zealand Fire Service.

Jenny is an experienced community fundraiser and enthusiastic member of her dragon boat team, CanSurvive, who can often be seen practising by Frank Kitts lagoon.

Senior Communications and Marketing Adviser

Nicole helps the Development Office team achieve a strategic approach to marketing and communications to support Victoria’s fundraising.

Originally from Australia, Nicole has previously worked in a variety of marketing, development, fundraising and events roles for both arts organisations and community based charities, including Opera Queensland, Cancer Council Queensland and most recently Brisbane Powerhouse.

Nicole holds a Bachelor of Business (extended Marketing major) and a Master of Business (Strategic Advertising major) from Queensland University of Technology.

Trusts and Foundations Adviser

Jill is responsible for developing and managing relationships with trusts and foundations to support the many projects at Victoria. Jill works with Development Managers in all disciplines to identify possible funders to support the exciting initiatives across the University.

Jill is experienced across all aspects of fundraising and most recently worked in grants at Arthritis New Zealand, developing and maintaining trust and foundation support. Prior to that, she was with Waiapu Anglican Social Services. Jill has a strong interest in contemporary New Zealand art and reading.

Manager, Donor and Prospect Research

Nicki manages the donor and prospect research function of the Development Office. As well as helping to find and reconnect with lost alumni in New Zealand and globally, she provides information to assist the Development Managers match strategically important University projects that require funding with potential donors.

Originally from the UK, Nicki has worked as a fundraiser and prospect researcher in New Zealand since 2001. Outside of work she is a keen sportswoman, and has recently joined the Board of Wellington Hockey.

Campaign Administrator

Accountant

BCA, Victoria University of Wellington

Yun Ting is the Development Office's accountant. Her duties include overseeing the management of trust funds of approximately $25 million and reporting to the Board of Trustees at the quarterly Finance and Risk, and the Investment Committee, meetings.

Yun Ting is a Victoria University graduate with a BCA majoring in Accounting.

Database Research Administrator

Jeremy is responsible for maintaining the integrity of all stakeholder records, and the ongoing research of lost graduates, collection of business details and contact information. He also handles alumni library access and assists with the execution of alumni events.

Jeremy has a background in database administration, data cleansing and migration, as well as information technology. He has spent the last ten years working in the not for profit sector in New Zealand, most recently for the Pharmacy Guild of New Zealand, and prior to his time there, a few years working at both Thomson-Reuters and Spark NZ.
