Join us at Growing Graduates

Contribute to Wellington’s natural environment by taking part in Victoria’s annual Growing Graduates tree planting day.

About the programme

The Growing Graduates programme aims to celebrate our new graduates and create a lasting connection between students, alumni, Victoria University and the city of Wellington.

Each year, over five years, Victoria University is planting 2,000 native trees within Wellington’s Town Belt. The trees will be grown from seeds collected in the Wellington bush, and will be available for all Wellingtonians to access and enjoy.

Funding

Funded by the Victoria University Foundation, in partnership with Wellington City Council, the programme supports the Council in its Two Million Trees project (visit Our Living City for more information).

Symbolic significance

The growing trees are symbolic of Victoria University graduates educational journey and the path they will follow.

Just as graduates will contribute to society through the skills they have developed, the trees will enhance the Wellington landscape and contribute to environmental well-being.

Join our next planting day

Alumni are welcome to join new graduates and Victoria staff to help with planting. A Growing Graduates day (usually a Saturday) is held between May to June.
